Robin died of pneumonia in the woods behind Wal-Mart. She lived in the forest for the past decade, but it wouldn’t be exactly true to say that she was homeless. She called the forest her home. She turned the woods into her dwelling by hanging pictures of her family on the trees surrounding her cozy tent…

    Hi Isaac,

    Thanks for this article. I was reminded of the comment from Braveheart that everyone dies, but not everyone really lives. I appreciate that you wrote this piece and that it so favorably paints a wonderful individual from a group who are so often put into the category of “bad” without further thought. Is it a conscious process for you to bypass your pre-conceptions and accept those different from yourself? I know it is for me. Just the same, it’s worth the effort.
